Modi Lastek is a joint venture between Modi Hitech India Limited, part of the Umesh Modi Group, and Lastek Belgium, a trusted name in the European welding industry since 1958. Established in October 2024, the partnership brings together Indian manufacturing strength and Belgian expertise to deliver world-class welding solutions tailored for the Indian market.

The Umesh Modi Group has a legacy that dates back to 1932, when Shri Rai Bahadur Gujar Mal Modi set up the first sugar plant in Begumbad, Uttar Pradesh, laying the foundation of Modinagar’s industrial identity. Over the decades, the group has grown into a diversified conglomerate with businesses spanning pharmaceuticals, healthcare, personal care, packaging, steel, power, pet care, and welding solutions. Modi Hitech India Limited, one of the group’s key companies, began with rolling mill equipment in 1983 and expanded into welding electrodes in 2007. Over the years, it has built strong brands such as Modi Arc Electrode and Modi Ecoweld, which have earned trust in the Indian welding industry for their performance and reliability. Today, its state-of-the-art facility at Modipuram, Meerut, produces electrodes and welding wires with a combined annual capacity of nearly 9,600 MT.
